Thank you for visiting this site and for the opportunity to share Carmen's vision with you.

After many months...

Clearly my focus has been on paint and not on the written word these last 6 months...but it has not been without great gain!  I have finished the main body of work for my first art opening and it has been a journey working to this point.

This last eight months has been an incredible experience.  It came as quite a surprise last fall to be offered an opportunity to have my own solo show at CTA and to be a part of the Bozeman Art Walk.  I had moments of ecstatic joy immediately followed by crippling fear once I agreed!

Saying yes to this opportunity, meant working to achieve one of my "bucket list/dreams for life"  items.  In the back of my mind, I have wanted to have an art opening for 15+ years now.  But the funny thing is, I could never quite picture what it would include (medium and subject matter).  I can say that working to create the pieces for these shows feels even better than I could have imagined.  I may have to take a crack at some of those other items on my list - turns out the journey is as interesting as the item itself.

After spending many months quietly contemplating and working hard, I am excited to see the outcome.  The pieces I have created depict a journey of growth and all have their own story to tell.  I am excited and even a little nervous to share the results.  It will be another new experience to display my heart on canvas for all to see.  It is my hope that these pieces will evoke an emotional response in those who view them.   I believe that art is a physical manifestation of an artist's emotions and response to the world around them.

I truly hope to have you attend one or both of the Bozeman Art Walk openings:

June 12th 6-8pm or July 10th 6-8pm at CTA Architects 411 E Main Street #101 in Bozeman Montana.

Hopefully you can make an evening of it and share it with someone close or a great friend!  Bozeman is blessed to have a community that emphasizes the talents of many people and the Bozeman Art Walk nights are a great avenue to enjoy this abundance!  Looking forward to seeing you!

Putting words to a feeling

I have attempted to write my artist statement again and again, never quite finding the words to explain what it means to me to look upon beauty.  There is beauty everywhere I look.  The sky is one of the most captivating parts of the landscapes in Montana.  They call my native home the Big Sky State since the sky seems vast and all encompassing.  The Montana sky is ever changing - directed by the weather, light, time of day, time of year.  Each demonstrating the love of my Creator's hand.  The sky is a constant reminder of God's love for me and that life is precious...love and life that are a true gift.  Just like the sky, life has moments that pass by as quickly as clouds blown across the sky by the wind and light that changes as rapidly as a breath rising and falling from my body.  Sometimes, I think about how if you truly look into someone's eyes you can see their soul, their heart's nature.  For me, looking at the sky is a bit like a glimpse into the eyes of my Father in heaven.  It reminds me that there is no end to His love or His willingness to forgive.  Join me in raising your eyes to the sky and taking time to soak in the beauty and gift of that moment in time.
